The Holiday Movie Rush is On! My Top 10 Most Anticipated Films from Fall 2025 to Early 2026!

The Holiday Movie Rush is On! My Top 10 Most Anticipated Films from Fall 2025 to Early 2026!

Hey everyone! Get ready to swap out those sandals for cinema seats, because we're officially entering the best time of year for film lovers!

The stretch from October to January is always a wild mix of prestige dramas aiming for Oscar gold, huge sci-fi spectacles, and some genuinely spooky holiday horror. It’s where studios roll out their biggest bets, and honestly, I am here for all of it.

I've sifted through the noise and put together my personal list of the Top 10 Most Anticipated Upcoming Movies hitting the screen over the next few months. Time to check your calendar, because you're going to want to book these dates!

 1. Avatar: Fire and Ash

Let's start with the one that's going to dominate the conversation this December. Avatar 3 (officially titled Fire and Ash) is James Cameron’s next massive chapter in the world of Pandora. After the visual feast of The Way of Water, I'm excited to see the franchise explore new Na’vi cultures and environments—specifically the fire-based 'Ash People' that Cameron has teased. Expect breathtaking visuals and, likely, another billion dollars at the box office. (Release Date: December 19, 2025)

 2. TRON: Ares

The TRON franchise is getting a long-awaited third installment, and I couldn't be more ready to return to The Grid! Jared Leto stars in this new film, which is said to bridge the gap between the virtual world and the real one. The aesthetic of TRON is always cool, and with modern VFX, this promises to be a visually stunning, action-packed dose of cyberpunk nostalgia. (Release Date: October 10, 2025)

 3. The Smashing Machine

When you hear Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is starring, you usually think high-octane action, right? Not this time. Johnson is playing legendary MMA fighter Mark Kerr in this biopic, directed by the brilliant Benny Safdie (of Uncut Gems fame). This is a dramatic, transformative role for The Rock, and with Safdie's gritty, intense style, this is easily one of the most compelling dramas of the year. It's a must-see for Oscar watchers! (Release Date: October 3, 2025)

 4. Zootopia 2

If you loved the original Disney animated hit, you know why this is high on the list! Returning to the hilarious, detailed, and relevant world of Zootopia is a treat. I'm keen to see what new mysteries and social commentary Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde will face this time around. This is a perfect Thanksgiving/holiday treat for the whole family. (Release Date: November 26, 2025)

 5. Predator: Badlands

Director Dan Trachtenberg completely revitalized the Predator series with the fantastic and lean prequel Prey. Now, he's back with a brand new, mysterious installment called Badlands. While plot details are scarce, if it delivers the same suspense, creative action, and grounded storytelling as Prey, it will be an absolute blast. I have high hopes for this one! (Release Date: November 7, 2025)

 6. The Black Phone 2

The original Black Phone was one of the biggest sleeper horror hits in recent memory, blending an unsettling premise with genuinely scary moments. Ethan Hawke is back, along with director Scott Derrickson, for the sequel. A chilling ghost-story-meets-abduction thriller set to land perfectly in the spooky month of October? Yes, please. (Release Date: October 17, 2025)

 7. Greenland 2: Migration

Gerard Butler's original disaster film was a surprisingly intense and grounded take on the end of the world. The sequel, Greenland: Migration, picks up with the family emerging from their bunker to navigate a devastated, post-apocalyptic world. If you like high-stakes survival thrillers, mark your calendars for this early January release—it's a great way to kick off the new year's action slate. (Release Date: January 9, 2026)

 8. Kiss of the Spider Woman

This is a fascinating project. A film adaptation of the acclaimed musical, which is itself based on the novel, starring Jennifer Lopez. It's a dark, psychological story set in a South American prison, revolving around a revolutionary and a gay window dresser. A musical drama that could generate some serious Oscar buzz—this one is definitely a unique entry into the fall lineup. (Release Date: October 10, 2025)

 9. Soulm8te

Here's a fun one for the horror crowd: a spin-off from the M3GAN universe! Instead of a killer doll, Soulm8te features a human-like AI companion who is meant to help a lonely man cope with his wife's passing, but instead takes a deadly turn. Blumhouse knows how to deliver entertaining, sharp sci-fi horror, and this is set to deliver on that creepy "smart home gone wrong" concept. (Release Date: January 2, 2026)

 10. The Lost Bus

Based on a true story, this survival drama is directed by Paul Greengrass (known for the Bourne films and Captain Phillips) and stars Matthew McConaughey as a heroic school bus driver. It recounts the harrowing real-life event of a bus driver saving children from one of California's deadliest wildfires. With Greengrass's intense, documentary-style filmmaking, this will be a powerful and emotional ride. (Release Date: October 3, 2025)
