We've been offline for the last couple of days, and just got the email this morning that we have been approved to adopt a whole "troop" of soldiers! We are so excited!!! The girls are already coming up with care-package ideas and getting their first set of letters written and pictures colored. There are 150 brave soldiers in the "troop" we adopted, so I'm trying to figure out a way to split them up over the year :)
So far they have come up with their first one and it is for the handful of women in the "troop" 15 total. They decided on a Spa theme so the girls can pamper themselves! I love that they wanted to send something to the girls first as mostly it is guy themes they came up with. They are going to be starting a wishlist on Amazon for all the care packages they want to send, so that family and friends can contribute to the care packages as well. We have a ton planned for this year, and while I hope to get everything done, the care packages/notes for our troop and our new penpals are our top priority!
I love that the girls want to have penpals, and since I have lost touch with the two that I had for years, I decided to get in on the fun too! So we have all signed up for penpals and while the girls are waiting for theirs we have been hunting for cute stationary, paper, envelopes and pens for our letter writing!
I am also in the process of setting up a recipe swap for all of you! And a few other things are in the works!
