As a mom to teens, I have taught them all the basics of cooking, mainly just what they needed to know to cook for themselves. They generally know most terms and how to accomplish what they need, but my youngest (14 yr old) is wanting to take a culinary class as her homeschool elective this year, so I have been on the lookout for kits, lessons, and products that she will be able to use to learn more from.
Enter Raddish Kids, with this monthly subscription service I am able to teach her new recipes, proper kitchen tool use, and specific culinary skills. We received the Family Date Night kit which included the theme card with a shopping list on the reverse side, 3 tri-fold laminated recipe cards, that are extremely detailed, and include lots of photos that would be great for younger kids; a family game night card with game instructions and foodie game dice templates. Also included where a garlic mincer, table talk cards, and a patch.
The recipes included were Chicken Parmesan, Garlicky Green Beans, and Family Fun Fondue. Each trifold recipe card included a needed ingredient and tool list, along with photos and written instructions. The backside of the cards included a different Featured Culinary Skill. The garlic mincer was just the right size for my teen's hands and made mincing so much easier than using a grater.
We tried the fondue and the garlicky green beans, but she wanted to wait and do the Chicken Parmesan for her monthly dinner.
The instructions were extremely easy for her to follow and she only had a few questions for me throughout the process.
