Kids Adopt a Shelter is the brain child of 11 year old Sean. Sean has made it his mission to unite kids and adults across the world to help out the animal shelters, pet foster families and rescue centers around the world. Sean wants to have at least one child in each state adopt a shelter to donate items to. So far his mission has exploded and he has 19 states with volunteers!! This all started with a desire to help his local shelter where his sister is working. Sean believes that he can make a difference and so far he has!

The kids, Harmonie, Quinten, and Sassy all wanted to do something productive this year, and this was what they decided to devote their time to. I am the state representative for Kentucky, and we have adopted our local Humane Society shelter. Harmonie's reasoning behind me being the state rep centered on my blog and how I always get review items. We are excited to help and have already started looking into donation drives and fundraising ideas. With it being cold outside and knowing that the shelters always need sheets and the like we are going through all of our old linens and getting them cleaned up.
The kids are really into this and it makes me happy to see that they are excited about helping out the animals. Our Carmello was adopted from the shelter and we love her to pieces, so being able to give back is going to be a great learning experience for the kids.
Here is a little video message from Sean!
How can you not want to help this little angel reach his goal? If you or your children would like to sign up to Adopt a Shelter in your area please visit the Kids Adopt a Shelter facebook page and check out the note section. If you are in Kentucky and would like to adopt a shelter you can visit Kids Adopt a Shelter-Kentucky Division and we will get you set up with a shelter in your area. The kids have also started a blog, and I'm working on the layout for them, if you would like to keep up to date on their progress, or you want to learn how to donate to their efforts please take a trip over to their blog, and follow them! We plan to document in photos and videos just how much progress they make throughout the year, so make sure you follow so you can get those updates. And any pet items that mommy can get for review will be added to their donations.
Carmello is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea behind this - it's a way to help without having to adopt all of the animals yourself.
That kitty is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea.
Is there any way to post shelter animals in need of rescue in KY?? I'm also a friend of Sean's (and his mom), and try to cross-post everywhere I can (to help) - via their links. Let me know, please? There are some dogs in Ravenna that could use some assistance in getting the heck out of that shelter!!! Thank you, Melissa!
